Nitrogen oxides are NO and NO2 – NOx. Rain turns these into nitreous and nitric acids H2NO2/3 – H2NOy.
These fall on the plants – and fertilise them, better than ammonia fertilizer. Their production is a major energy user.
We burn Fossil Fuels, and get CO2 (Plant food) and NO2(plant fertilizer. Photosynthesis leaves a pre-industrial 2 parts per million CO2 in the air, and 4 parts per billion NOx. Too low a level to affect anything – other than plant growth.

When we burn Fossil Fuels, we do Molecular Nuclear Fusion
so 0.0002% CO2, and 0.00000004% NOx.
So even on a road packed with vehicles, we are not going to be able to measure the NOx. Petrol is C15H34 diesel in C12H26. So for petrol m=16. Diesel m-12. n=2m+2.
We measure the CO2 from diesels – and it is 25% lower than for petrol engines of the same power. So with NOx. Petrol cars produce 25% more NOx. Diesels are still the 'greener'option. Less emissions.
You want to reduce NOx (Why – we struggle to measure it) than drive diesel cars – reduce NOx by 25%.
The resent fuss about NOx, is from the petrol/OPEC lobby desperate to sell more petrol cars. Increasing CO2 and NOx by 25%. They talked about the NOx from diesels – but petrol engnies produce 25% more.
Only scientist with large contracts to OPEC countries now talk about NOx. But tragically petrol cars produce more. Obviously not real scientists – petrol stooges. Sack these PAID stooges now.
