We drive the car electrically – but we use a steam plasma tube to produce the power – not rely on batteries for driving.
A 50x1cm steam plasma in a glass tube at 4 atmospheres produce 1.2MW of heat. We use a fan to drive air across this tube, and then a thermoelectric generator. This produces 144kW of DC power. Power electronics converts this into speed matched AC, to drive contactless motors on each wheel.
We power up a battery, for lights, radio and IT systems. To fly a helicopter takes 45kW, so we are probably looking at flying between cities, and then landing to drive into town.
No petrol or diesel burn. We power up the plasma using the electronics we borrow from a fluorescent light, and then the plasan self sustains – until the next cold start.
